New Study: Control Your Weight & Live Longer! The New Brown Fat Revolution!
By Steve Blechman
A new study published in the January 2023 issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition reported that being overweight or obese during adulthood was “associated with accelerated biological aging. In contrast, weight loss from young to middle adulthood was associated with the decelerated biological aging. The findings highlight the potential role of weight management across adulthood for aging.” And that, “preventing weight gain may slow the aging process and eventually postpone age-related health complications.”
The biological aging results in this study was determined by measuring the telomere (DNA structures found at the end of chromosomes) length in 5,553 US adults (40 to 84 years of age). Longer telomeres signify longer lifespan. “These findings support the hypothesis that obesity promotes aging, which could be attributed to inflammation, oxidative stress, insulin resistance, metabolic dysregulation and immunity dysfunction shared by obese and older adults.”
For the past decade, studies have been published in the scientific literature supporting the potential weight-loss/fat-loss and health benefits of brown fat. And for that past six years, I have written many articles on the health and fat-loss benefits of brown adipose tissue (brown fat).
Several landmark discoveries and approaches to enhancing brand fat function are being explored at major research centers and universities worldwide, with great excitement. Brown fat weight loss research is a hot topic today!
A new and exciting review article was recently published on January 19th, 2023 in The World Journal of Men's Health entitled “Thermogenic Brown Fat in Humans: Implications in Energy Homeostasis Obesity and Metabolic Disorders.” This authoritative, extensive review summarizes the current knowledge on human brown adipose tissue (BAT) in health and disease and its role in body energy expenditure, body fatness, obesity and related metabolic disorders, and the effects on aging.
In January 2023, further research supports brown adipose tissue (brown fat) and regulation of human body weight. (Diabetes Metab Res Rev, Jan. 2023)
Certain health benefits of brown fat are being explored in Alzheimer’s disease “such as regulating energy metabolism, secreting hormones, improving insulin sensitivity and increasing glucose utilization in adult humans.” (Metab Brain Dis, Jan. 2023)
New research has shown that cold exposure may reduce tumor growth by inducing brown fat activation. “However, cardiovascular safety is of concern, given the increase in heart rate and blood pressure observed.” (Signal Tranduct Target Ther, Jan. 2023)
Research has found that exposure to cold temperature and consumption of spicy foods such as capsaicin and capsinoids found in chili peppers can activate brown fat. Also, the spices Grains of Paradise, ginger, and cinnamon. Plus, research has found that caffeine and coffee can also increase brown fat, as well as virgin olive oil and polyphenols found in grapes, grape skins and other fruits, and the sleeping aid melatonin.
It was also reported in ScienceDaily on January 4, 2021 that a study published in the journal Nature offered compelling evidence: among over 52,000 participants, those who had detectable brown fat were less likely than their peers to have type 2 diabetes and coronary artery disease.
The Nature report also acknowledged that individuals with more brown fat had lower risk of elevated blood lipids, cerebral vascular disease, hypertension, and congestive heart failure.
“The study, by far the largest of its kind in humans, confirms and expands the health benefits of brown fat suggested by previous studies. For the first time, it reveals a link to lower risk of certain conditions,” says Paul Cohen, the Albert Resnick, M.D., Assistant Professor and senior attending physician at The Rockefeller University Hospital. “These findings make us more confident about the potential of targeting brown fat for therapeutic benefit.”
Over the last seven years, I’ve launched AML™ THERMO HEAT®, the most scientifically advanced brown fat and thermogenic supplement line ever developed! This new brown fat revolution in weight loss is the focus of the book Thermo Heat™ Weight Loss Revolution by Michael J. Rudolph, Ph.D. that includes the foreword by Daniel L. Friedman, MD and Eugene B. Friedman, MD. You can click the link to order on Amazon here published by Advanced Research Media, Inc. You can also get a free PDF version here.
